Job Title
Staff Power IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design high-performance power management integrated-circuit blocks (DC-DC converters, LDOs, charge pumps, gate drivers, power stages and protection circuits) from specification through silicon bring-up. The role sits in ADI's Shanghai design center and collaborates with global teams to support process development and next-generation power technologies.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer. Typical experience: M.S.E.E. with 7+ years in power IC design, or Ph.D. with 5+ years; equivalent experience considered.
Responsibilities
Deliver transistor-level power IC circuit blocks and support their validation and production release. Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement power-management circuits (buck, boost, buck-boost, LDOs, charge pumps, gate drivers, power stages, protection).
- Perform schematic capture, transistor-level simulation, parasitic-aware post-layout verification, and layout oversight.
- Optimize transient response, loop bandwidth, load regulation, and power-stage performance across process corners and operating conditions.
- Execute silicon bring-up, debug measured results, and correlate bench measurements with simulation.
- Lead trade-offs between efficiency, area, EMI, reliability, and cost; own block/subsystem from specification to silicon bring-up.
- Support reliability, thermal, and manufacturing-yield analyses (loss analysis, thermal management, Monte Carlo and statistical design centering).
- Collaborate across global, cross-functional teams and contribute to design reviews and process evaluations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (education items listed separately below):
- Strong transistor-level design skills for high-performance power-management circuits and demonstrated delivery through tape-out to production.
- Experience with BCD, HV-CMOS and power FET technologies, including device physics and safe operating area considerations.
- Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre/APS or equivalent IC design and power-stage simulation tools.
- Experience in control-loop design, compensation, and stability analysis for switching and linear regulators.
- Skilled in parasitic-aware simulation, power-stage optimization, and design centering across corners.
- Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up, debug, and simulation/measurement correlation.
- Effective collaborator across global teams; excellent communication in Mandarin and strong English for cross-site work.
Education Requirements
Preferred: M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with 7+ years of power IC design experience, or Ph.D. with 5+ years. B.S.E.E. (BSEE) will be considered with equivalent practical experience. Acceptable fields include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related technical disciplines; equivalent industry experience is also acceptable.
