Job Title
Staff Power Analysis Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineering role responsible for power analysis and methodology for SoC and IP designs. Work with architecture, RTL, verification and physical design teams to quantify, optimise and sign off power budgets and strategies.
Based in the UK (Cambridge, Manchester or Sheffield); role combines technical delivery, tooling/flow development and stakeholder communication.
Experience Level
Senior. The role expects an experienced engineer comfortable leading technical analyses, defining methodology and mentoring others. Specific years of experience were not listed.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical delivery, methodology and collaboration:
- Perform power analysis at RTL and gate level to estimate, validate and optimise power consumption.
- Develop and maintain power analysis flows and automation (scripting, regression runs, reporting).
- Collaborate with architects, designers and physical design teams to define power targets and mitigation strategies (clock gating, DVFS, power domains).
- Support sign-off activities and produce clear, data-driven reports for stakeholders.
- Mentor and train team members on power analysis practices and tools.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behaviours; nice-to-have items listed where appropriate.
-
Must-have: Strong practical experience with power analysis and sign-off for digital designs, including RTL and gate-level analysis.
-
Must-have: Proficiency scripting in Python, Tcl or similar to automate flows and reports; comfortable working in Linux environments.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of low-power design techniques (clock gating, power domains, DVFS) and how they impact analysis and verification.
-
Must-have: Experience communicating technical results to architects and cross-functional teams and driving remediation plans.
-
Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with industry power tools (e.g. PrimeTime-PX, Voltus, PowerArtist) and familiarity with sign-off flows and EDA toolchains.
-
Nice-to-have: Background in SoC-level power modelling, silicon bring-up or physical implementation awareness.
Education Requirements
