Staff PCIe Design Engineer
ArmJob Title
Staff PCIe Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior RTL/micro‑architecture engineer responsible for designing and integrating high‑performance I/O subsystems (PCIe, CXL, UCIe, Ethernet) into SoCs. You'll write micro‑architecture specifications, develop and debug RTL, and collaborate with verification, performance analysis and backend implementation teams to deliver silicon‑ready subsystems.
Experience Level
Senior - 10+ years of experience in complex compute subsystem or SoC design.
Responsibilities
The role combines architecture, RTL development, verification coordination, and backend collaboration to deliver production SoC IP.
- Write micro‑architecture and design specifications for I/O subsystems.
- Implement and maintain RTL (Verilog) and debug functional issues.
- Perform static design checks and address CDC, RDC, X‑Propagation and linting issues.
- Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug build failures.
- Work with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance.
- Support backend implementation: floor planning, constraints, and timing closure.
- Improve and document design methodologies and contribute to team process improvements.
- Mentor and guide team members; coordinate with project management on schedules and deliverables.
Requirements
Must‑have technical skills and experience.
- 10+ years experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
- Strong digital hardware design skills and practical Verilog HDL experience.
- Experience developing and integrating PCIe, CXL, UCIe, Ethernet subsystems into SoCs.
- Proven ability to create design specifications and deliver RTL for SoC projects.
- Experience with static design checks including CDC, RDC, X‑Propagation and lint tools.
- Familiarity with scripting (Perl, Python or similar) for automation and debug.
Nice‑to‑have:
- Experience with Arm‑based designs or Arm system architectures.
- Experience leading small teams or project technical leads.
- Knowledge of synthesis, timing analysis, power management, DFT and physical implementation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
