Job Title

Staff Networking / Interoperability Validation Engineer — Switches, NICs, AEC, Transceivers

Role Summary

Design and execute lab-based interoperability and validation testing for Marvell high-speed networking products (switches, NICs, transceivers, cables) across multi-vendor platforms. Drive failure analysis and root-cause resolution with design and firmware teams and continuously improve automation and test infrastructure.

Work spans PHY-layer signal integrity through protocol-level interoperability and leverages AI/LLMs and agent workflows to accelerate test automation and data analysis.

Experience Level

Senior level. The posting specifies 1–3+ years of experience and indicates an advanced degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include creating and running interoperability tests, analyzing results, and improving automation and infrastructure.

  • Design, develop, and execute interoperability test plans across multi-vendor platforms and customer environments using automated frameworks.
  • Analyze test results, isolate failure modes, and drive root-cause resolution with design and firmware teams.
  • Validate PHY-layer behavior: SerDes link bring-up, PAM4/NRZ signal integrity, FEC performance, and low-level protocol compliance (I2C, SPI, SMI).
  • Develop and maintain automation systems and test infrastructure for coverage, repeatability, and reduced time-to-data.
  • Leverage LLMs and AI agent workflows to accelerate data analysis, anomaly detection, and test automation.
  • Document test methodologies, results, and findings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with customers and partners to ensure test coverage reflects real-world deployment scenarios.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and relevant experience; preferred items noted.

  • Must-have: Experience designing and executing interoperability test plans in multi-vendor networking environments; proficiency with automation frameworks, scripting, and network CLI on switch and NIC platforms.
  • Must-have: Hands-on PHY-layer validation experience (SerDes bring-up, PAM4/NRZ, FEC, I2C/SPI/SMI).
  • Must-have: Ability to analyze large volumes of test data in real time, isolate failures, and drive cross-functional resolution.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of networking protocols (Ethernet, IP, BGP, OSPF), data-center topologies (spine-leaf, fat-tree), and high-speed interconnect standards (800G, 1.6T).
  • Must-have: Experience developing automation and improving test infrastructure for high-speed networking validation.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience applying LLMs/AI frameworks or AI agent workflows to test automation, anomaly detection, and data analysis.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior direct engagement with customers and partners on interoperability requirements and debugging.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD preferred in Computer Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related technical field — posting lists "MS/PhD (preferred) in CE/EE or related technical field(s)". The posting does not explicitly state an "or equivalent experience" clause.
