Staff Manufacturing Engineer
TenstorrentJob Title
Staff Manufacturing Engineer
Role Summary
Lead the build-out and operation of Tenstorrent's NPI and failure-analysis capability to move advanced AI hardware from prototype through volume production. This role works across design, electrical, mechanical, test, quality and contract manufacturers to define process specifications, establish phase gates, and ensure smooth design transfer.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff-level). No explicit years-of-experience stated; requires demonstrated experience taking hardware from prototype to production.
Responsibilities
Own NPI site activities, define repeatable build and test processes, and drive product readiness and yield during launch and ramp.
- Stand up and operate the NPI site for EVT and DVT builds, prototype validation, RMA handling and failure analysis.
- Define and maintain process specifications for assembly, integration, rework and test; update procedures as volume grows.
- Establish build readiness and phase exit criteria (EVT β DVT β PVT β MP) and lead design transfer to contract manufacturers, including tooling and documentation.
- Drive DFM/DFA and tolerance reviews early in the design cycle to prevent production issues.
- Lead failure analysis and RMA recovery, and ensure corrective actions feed back into design and process documentation.
- Set process capability targets and track performance using SPC, DOE and yield metrics to stabilize launches and ramps.
- Coordinate cross-functionally to keep internal teams and external CMs aligned on actions, risks and readiness.
Requirements
Key skills and experience required; listed as must-have first, then nice-to-have.
- Must-have: Hands-on manufacturing, process or NPI engineering experience taking hardware from prototype to production.
- Must-have: Practical experience with failure analysis, root cause investigations and RMA recovery.
- Must-have: Experience writing process specs, build/test procedures, and executing design transfer to contract manufacturers.
- Must-have: Familiarity with DFM/DFA reviews and process control methods (SPC, DOE, yield analysis).
- Must-have: Strong communicator with proven ability to coordinate internal teams and external contract manufacturers.
- Nice-to-have: Prior experience establishing NPI sites, working with EVT/DVT/PVT workflows, or with high-performance AI/semiconductor hardware.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
