Job Title
Staff/Lead Embedded Software Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development of embedded software for custom in-house semiconductor test equipment, working on bare-metal and embedded Linux platforms. Collaborate with cross-discipline teams (software, electrical, control, mechanical) and coordinate with a design team based in Boise, ID to design, manufacture, and support custom testers.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 5 years relevant embedded software experience interfacing with hardware; preferred 8+ years and prior supervisory experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver firmware and higher-level interface software, support manufacturing and field operations, and provide technical leadership to the local team.
- Design and modify embedded test equipment in cross-discipline teams; document designs.
- Develop and debug code in C and C++ on bare metal and under RHEL-compatible Linux; use Bash and Python for tooling and automation.
- Work with New Product Introduction, Field Service, and Operations during manufacture and support of equipment.
- Provide technical guidance, coach engineers, and manage local team performance.
- Hands-on lab work with electronics, test instruments, and third-party equipment.
- Support and improve existing designs in response to manufacturing and production issues.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency and quality within scope of work.
Requirements

Must-have: Minimum 5 years experience developing embedded software that interfaces with hardware.

Must-have: Fundamental electrical engineering knowledge including analog circuitry comprehension, familiarity with lab equipment, and schematic/PCB layout awareness.

Nice-to-have: Supervisory or people-leadership experience.

Nice-to-have: Python and Bash proficiency; experience with Linux and GNU tool chain.

Nice-to-have: Experience with system manufacturing (software + hardware), calibration, and programmatic interfacing with oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs.

Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; degree requirement may be met by equivalent practical experience.
