Job Title
Staff Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Execute high-quality IC layouts for standard cells, I/O pads, and mixed-signal IP in advanced process nodes. Work within project schedules and collaborate with engineers across sites to define and document layout methodology and flows.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires a minimum of 8 years of IC layout experience (senior individual contributor with leadership responsibilities).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design execution, planning, and cross-team collaboration.
- Perform transistor- to block-level layout for standard cell, memory, full-custom, and analog/mixed-signal designs.
- Apply design guidelines and advanced process rules to achieve robust, high-performance layouts.
- Manage schedules and perform floorplanning at cell and block levels.
- Validate layouts using physical verification flows and address DRC/LVS/ERC issues.
- Lead technology reviews and document layout methodology, flow, and guidelines.
- Communicate and coordinate with design, verification, and process engineering teams across sites.
- Adapt to new layout methodologies and incorporate improvements into the flow.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and other requirements.
- Minimum of 8 years of IC layout experience, including hands-on implementation at cell and block levels.
- Strong practical experience in standard cell, memory, full-custom, and/or analog/mixed-signal layout.
- Solid understanding of ESD and latch-up principles for I/O design.
- Experienced with deep sub-micron / advanced nodes (examples: 5nm, 3nm, 2nm, 1.4nm).
- Proficient with Cadence Virtuoso layout environment and Calibre physical verification (DRC, LVS, ERC, antenna, EM/IR analysis).
- Scripting (Shell, Python, Tcl) or Cadence SKILL programming considered a plus.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and lead project tasks; demonstrated project management and leadership capabilities.
- Must be available for immediate relocation to Singapore.
Education Requirements
