Staff Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Library Group within Central Engineering focused on physical layout for memory, I/O and standard-cell libraries. The role produces high-quality IC layouts, ensures rule compliance for advanced process nodes, and supports integration into larger designs.

Works with circuit designers, verification engineers and process teams to define and maintain layout methodology and flows for submicron processes.

Experience Level

Senior level. Requires a minimum of 8 years of IC layout experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include delivering layout work and leading technical aspects of library development.

• Apply and enforce layout guidelines for standard cells, I/O and memory across new process rules.
• Plan layout schedules, perform floor-planning and manage layout timelines.
• Produce complete layouts and run physical verification (LVS/DRC/ERC/Antenna/EM) within schedule.
• Integrate hierarchical layouts and support chip integration tasks.
• Lead technology reviews and document layout methodology, flows and guidelines.
• Train and mentor junior engineers; provide technical leadership on projects.
• Adopt new methodologies, communicate effectively within the library team, and work independently when required.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by desirable skills.

• Minimum 8 years of IC layout experience, with strong layout knowledge in submicron processes (examples: 16nm, 7nm, 5nm, 2nm and below).
• Proven experience with digital layout (standard cell, memory, I/O) and memory layout topology.
• Hands-on with Cadence Virtuoso layout tools (XL, VXL or EXL) and Cadence schematic capture.
• Experience using CALIBRE and Hercules (physical verification tools) and performing LVS, DRC, ERC, antenna and electromigration checks.
• Experience in floor-planning, hierarchical layout and chip integration; able to complete verification without supervision.
• Ability to lead projects and train junior engineers; good project management and leadership skills.
• Must be available to relocate to Singapore immediately.

Nice-to-have:

• Analog layout experience.
• Experience with memory compilers.
• Script programming and SKILL language experience.
