Job Title
Staff Implementation Engineer
Role Summary
As a Staff Implementation Engineer in Arm's Solutions Engineering group, you will lead implementation and physical design work for Arm IP (CPU, GPU, and SoC). You will develop and deploy implementation and analysis methodologies, influence EDA flows, convert R&D concepts into production solutions, and support partners to improve power, performance and integration.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 7+ years of experience in ASIC implementation and physical design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Synthesis, physical design and implementation of CPU/GPU cores, system interconnects and other Arm IP within SoCs.
- Analyze and optimize timing, area and power; drive timing closure and STA improvements.
- Develop, validate and deploy new implementation methodologies and flows to improve quality of results.
- Perform detailed implementation analysis and data-mining to guide optimizations.
- Collaborate with RTL design and physical IP teams to drive analysis and optimization of IP.
- Translate research concepts into practical implementation solutions that scale across teams.
- Enable partners and internal teams to achieve improved implementation results and adopt best practices.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 7+ years of experience in ASIC implementation: physical design, STA and timing closure, structured clock tree, PDN analysis, DFM and physical verification.
- Proven experience across the IC design flow from RTL through to GDS2.
- Programming and scripting skills (examples: Tcl, Perl, R, Make, sh).
- Strong communication, initiative and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to promote new methodologies across international teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of Arm-based CPUs and SoCs.
- Experience with low-power design techniques (power gating, voltage/frequency scaling).
- Verilog RTL design experience.
- Experience with ATPG tools and/or production testing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or another relevant technical field.
