Job Title
Staff IC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join Broadcom's ASIC Product Division as a senior individual contributor on a SoC/IP design team focused on AI and storage chips. The role owns subsystem and block-level verification: building UVM/SystemVerilog environments, developing tests and coverage, and debugging failures to meet customer requirements.
Experience Level
Senior β experienced IC verification engineer. See Education Requirements for formal degree + years guidance.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include:
- Develop verification environments and testbenches using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Design UVM components: sequences, agents, scoreboards, monitors, and behavioral models.
- Implement functional coverage and assertions; develop random and directed tests to close coverage.
- Run simulations, analyze failures, and debug complex issues at system and sub-block levels.
- Collaborate across a matrix organization to integrate verification with design and bring-up activities.
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable verification code as an independent contributor.
Requirements
Must-have skills and conditions:
- Expertise in SystemVerilog and experience with UVM, OVM, or VMM.
- Strong background in Verilog and/or VHDL and experience using HDL simulators for debug.
- Proven ability to develop constrained-random and directed tests and close coverage gaps.
- Familiarity with OOP languages (C++, Java) and object-oriented techniques for testbench development.
- Strong debugging, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills for complex verification issues.
- Effective communication skills for working in a matrixed organization.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States; this position does not provide company-sponsored immigration support.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience building scoreboards, behavioral models, and verification infrastructure at subsystem or SoC level.
- Demonstrated leadership on technical projects or mentoring junior engineers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), or Computer Science (CS) plus 8+ years of related experience; or a Master's degree in EE, CE, or CS plus 6+ years of related experience.
