Staff FPGA Systems Development Engineer
Role Summary
Design, implement, verify, and support SoC/FPGA solutions for evaluation and test of ultra-wideband products within the Aerospace, Defense and Communication business unit. Work in a cross-functional, geographically distributed engineering organization to deliver FPGA-based subsystems and demonstration platforms.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Primary day-to-day responsibilities include SoC/FPGA design, lab bring-up, verification, and cross-team coordination.
- Design and implement SoC/FPGA programs using HDL, vendor IP, and embedded software.
- Constrain FPGA designs and perform static timing analysis.
- Develop and run behavioral models and FPGA design verification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve FPGA, board-level, and system hardware issues; perform lab bring-up and test.
- Support product evaluation and automated test equipment (ATE) testing.
- Participate in design reviews, create documentation, deliver presentations and demonstrations.
- Collaborate with digital design, product/test, and applications teams in a cross-functional environment.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and set priorities to meet schedules.
- Travel to customer sites or supporting facilities as required (approximately 10% travel).
Requirements
Must-have technical and professional qualifications followed by preferred skills.

Must-have: Proven hands-on experience with FPGA and/or SoC programming and integration.
- Practical experience with HDL/RTL design flows, IP integration, and embedded software interaction.
- Strong problem-solving skills, effective written and verbal communication, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in distributed teams and to prioritize multiple projects.
- Bias for action and a focus on delivering high-quality results on schedule.

Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed signaling, electronics design, and embedded software.
- Familiarity with Intel/Altera and/or AMD/Xilinx devices and tools, including gigabit transceivers and high-speed memory.
- Experience with RTL hardware programming and digital design best practices.
- Software skills such as C/C++, Python, and TCL for test and automation.
- Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating engineering teams or projects.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering.
