Staff FPGA Systems Development Engineer
Role Summary
Design, implement, verify, and support FPGA and SoC-based systems for Aerospace, Defense and Communications products. Work within a cross-functional engineering team to deliver firmware/RTL, embedded software, and evaluation/test solutions for high-performance, wideband systems.

Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include development, verification, and lab support for FPGA/SoC systems.
- Design and implement SoC/FPGA logic using HDL, IP, and embedded software.
- Create and apply constraints; perform timing analysis and closure.
- Develop behavioral and RTL verification to validate designs.
- Troubleshoot FPGA designs on hardware; support lab and ATE test activities.
- Participate in design reviews, produce documentation, and present demonstrations.
- Collaborate closely with digital designers, product/test engineers, and applications/marketing teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and work habits; preferred skills listed separately.
- Practical experience with FPGA and/or SoC programming and deployment.
- Experience constraining designs and performing timing analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication, coordination, and presentation skills.
- Proven problem-solving skills and a bias for action; able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Availability for occasional travel (about 10% of the time).
Preferred:
- Experience with high-speed signaling, electronics design, and embedded software.
- Familiarity with Intel/Altera or AMD/Xilinx devices and tools, including gigabit transceivers and high-speed memory interfaces.
- RTL hardware programming and general digital design experience.
- Software skills in C/C++, Python, and TCL.
- Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating engineering teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical and/or computer engineering.
