Job Title

Staff FPGA Systems Development Engineer

Role Summary

Design, implement, verify, and support FPGA and SoC-based systems for Aerospace, Defense and Communications products. Work within a cross-functional engineering team to deliver firmware/RTL, embedded software, and evaluation/test solutions for high-performance, wideband systems.

Responsibilities

Key day-to-day responsibilities include development, verification, and lab support for FPGA/SoC systems.

  • Design and implement SoC/FPGA logic using HDL, IP, and embedded software.
  • Create and apply constraints; perform timing analysis and closure.
  • Develop behavioral and RTL verification to validate designs.
  • Troubleshoot FPGA designs on hardware; support lab and ATE test activities.
  • Participate in design reviews, produce documentation, and present demonstrations.
  • Collaborate closely with digital designers, product/test engineers, and applications/marketing teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and work habits; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Practical experience with FPGA and/or SoC programming and deployment.
  • Experience constraining designs and performing timing analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, coordination, and presentation skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and a bias for action; able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Availability for occasional travel (about 10% of the time).

Preferred:

  • Experience with high-speed signaling, electronics design, and embedded software.
  • Familiarity with Intel/Altera or AMD/Xilinx devices and tools, including gigabit transceivers and high-speed memory interfaces.
  • RTL hardware programming and general digital design experience.
  • Software skills in C/C++, Python, and TCL.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating engineering teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical and/or computer engineering.
