Job Title
Staff FPGA Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and deliver high-speed FPGA-based digital systems for Communications Test & Measurement products. Work on architecture, implementation, verification, and integration of FPGA designs targeting high-speed Ethernet and optical interfaces.
Experience Level
Senior β requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on FPGA architecture, implementation, verification, and cross-disciplinary integration.
- Architect and implement high-speed FPGA designs using RTL languages and modern tool flows.
- Develop and execute simulation, synthesis, place-and-route, and verification strategies.
- Integrate FPGA logic with transceivers, hard IP, PLLs, PCIe, and optical modules (SFP/QSFP).
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and system teams to deliver production-quality products.
- Maintain documentation, version control, and design reviews; deliver timely and accurate results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools; items labeled as "desired" are nice-to-have.
- Proven experience with high-speed FPGA design using Verilog/SystemVerilog or VHDL.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet (10M up to 1.6T) and IP protocols.
- Experience with AMD (Xilinx) or Intel (Altera) FPGAs and vendor implementation tools.
- Experience with FPGA simulation tools (e.g., Siemens Questa, Aldec Riviera) and verification flows.
- Version control experience (Git or similar).
- Experience with transceivers, hard IP blocks, and PLLs (desired).
- Familiarity with optical interfaces and modules (SFP, QSFP) (desired).
- Familiarity with VLANs, MPLS, VPLS, and voice/video over IP (VoIP, IPTV) (desired).
- Background in general-purpose microprocessor and DSP systems, PCIe, high-speed digital board design, analog signal conditioning is a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience using generative AI tools to assist FPGA design is noted.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. The role specifies a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
