Staff Engineer, Test Engineering
Role Summary
Lead test engineering for significant product lines and technology platforms. Develop test strategies, architectures, and advanced test solutions to validate semiconductor devices, improve yield, and optimize production test throughput.
Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality and product teams to align test approaches with product requirements and business objectives; provide technical leadership and mentoring to test engineering teams.
Experience Level
Senior β 5β7 years of progressive semiconductor test engineering experience, with leadership of test development or optimization initiatives.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include defining test strategy, developing complex test programs, and driving test-based yield and quality improvements.
- Develop and implement test strategies, architectures, methodologies, and performance metrics for major product lines.
- Lead complex test program development, including measurement techniques and sophisticated test algorithms.
- Optimize test performance and throughput; apply statistical methods and predictive models to reduce test time and cost.
- Drive test technology innovation and roadmap for test platforms and infrastructure.
- Lead yield enhancement and quality improvement programs using advanced analysis and defect-detection strategies.
- Provide cross-functional leadership: represent test engineering in reviews, mentor teams, and coordinate with design, production and quality engineering.
- Approve test specifications and make decisions on test methodologies and resource allocation.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Proven expertise in semiconductor test principles, methodologies, and test equipment (ATE).
- Strong knowledge of device physics, parametric testing, failure mechanisms, and reliability testing practices.
- Experience with statistical analysis, design of experiments, test optimization, and test data analytics.
- Programming skills and familiarity with test languages and automation for test program development.
- Demonstrated project leadership and ability to lead cross-functional test initiatives and mentor engineers.
- Experience working in a semiconductor manufacturing environment and applying test solutions to production.
- Willingness to travel moderately (approximately 10β20%).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience creating test technology roadmaps and implementing next-generation test capabilities.
- Experience with advanced parametric test approaches, outlier detection, and predictive yield modeling.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required; Master's degree preferred. The posting indicates 5β7 years of progressive semiconductor test engineering experience; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
