Role Summary

Senior firmware engineer responsible for design, implementation, and validation of embedded firmware for SSD controllers and storage products. The role spans low-level firmware development, performance and reliability optimization, and collaboration with hardware, validation, and system teams across Micron sites in India.

Senior — requires 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include system-level firmware development and team leadership.

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded SSD firmware and controller software (primarily in C).
• Develop and integrate storage stack components and device interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS.
• Implement flash management, wear leveling, error handling, and NAND-specific features.
• Build diagnostic, validation, and automation tools using scripting languages to support development and testing.
• Profile and optimize firmware for performance, latency, and reliability.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers; coordinate tasks and technical direction within cross-functional teams.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve complex system and production issues; support integration and silicon bring-up.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional experience.

• 8+ years of experience with embedded firmware development.
• Extensive programming experience in C.
• Proficiency with scripting languages and development/toolchain environments for automation and testing.
• Experience in the storage industry (SSD, HDD, storage systems) and working knowledge of NAND/non-volatile memory.
• Understanding of storage interfaces (PCIe/NVMe, SATA, or SAS).
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Experience leading teams or supervising junior engineers/technicians.
