Role Summary
Senior DevOps engineer on Micron's SSD firmware team based in Bengaluru. The role focuses on designing and operating CI/CD and release automation for firmware, maintaining cloud and infrastructure-as-code, and supporting integration between firmware, software, and hardware.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years of experience in DevOps or automation engineering, preferably in high-tech or semiconductor environments.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include building and operating automation and release infrastructure for SSD firmware and supporting cross-functional integration.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for firmware development and releases.
- Manage firmware release processes and tooling to ensure repeatable, auditable releases.
- Develop automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code and cloud infrastructure (Terraform, Ansible, cloud platforms).
- Operate containerized services and orchestration (Kubernetes) used in firmware validation and tooling.
- Investigate and diagnose complex interactions among firmware, software, and hardware; drive to root cause and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with firmware, validation, firmware QA, and platform teams to improve pipeline reliability and efficiency.
- Manage multiple pipelines in a fast-paced environment and promote DevOps best practices across teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted below.
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps or automation engineering roles in high-tech or semiconductor contexts.
- Strong Linux experience.
- Proven experience managing firmware releases and release automation.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub CI/CD.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Familiarity with container orchestration and microservices architectures (Kubernetes).
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills; ability to handle complex multi-domain issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills; proactive about continuous learning.
- Nice-to-have: general knowledge of NVMe storage protocols.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
