Job Title
Staff Engineer, SoC Design Verification
Role Summary
Tenstorrent is hiring a staff-level engineer to lead pre-silicon verification of debug, test, and bring-up (DFD/DFT) logic across AI SoCs and chiplets. The role focuses on developing verification environments, creating and running tests for scan/MBIST/array-dump/clock-stop, analyzing coverage gaps, and driving automation for JTAG/scanchain flows.
This position is hybrid and based out of Boston, MA; Toronto, ON; Ottawa, ON; or Santa Clara, CA. Employment may be contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff). The company may assess candidates across seniority levels during hiring and align offers to the assessed level.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on pre-silicon verification of DFD/DFT features and enabling silicon bring-up.
- Design and maintain UVM verification environments for DFD/DFT logic across chiplets and SoCs.
- Develop and execute test scenarios for scan chains, MBIST, array dumps, clock-stop, and on-chip trace logic.
- Analyze coverage, identify gaps, debug failures, and coordinate fixes with RTL and DFT teams.
- Automate JTAG/scanchain and Tessent flows; integrate verification automation into CI workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align pre-silicon verification with silicon debug and bring-up strategies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
-
Must-have: Expert knowledge of UVM-based verification and practical experience verifying DFT/DFD features, scan, MBIST, and on-chip trace logic.
-
Must-have: Experience with Siemens Tessent flows, iJTAG, and advanced verification automation and scripting.
-
Must-have: Strong RTL debugging skills and experience working closely with RTL and DFT engineering teams.
-
Must-have: Experience building automated flows for JTAG/scanchain testing and integrating them into verification pipelines.
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with CocoTB or similar Python-based verification frameworks and exposure to AI-driven verification productivity tools.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior experience in security-conscious debug methodologies and silicon bring-up.
- Effective communication and ability to lead cross-functional technical discussions.
- Note: employment may be contingent on eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology.
Education Requirements
