Staff Engineer – SoC Design Verification
QualcommJob Title
Staff Engineer – SoC Design Verification
Role Summary
Member of the SoC verification team within Qualcomm's Hardware Engineering group, responsible for verifying mobile and compute SoCs and subsystems. Lead design and implementation of verification environments, testbenches, and test plans to ensure silicon meets functional and system-level requirements.
Experience Level
Senior — 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in SoC Design Verification as stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect and implement SoC-, subsystem- and IP-level verification environments and testbenches.
- Develop assertions, directed and constrained-random tests, and comprehensive test plans.
- Debug functional failures, perform root-cause analysis, and drive fixes across RTL, firmware, and integration teams.
- Perform system-level verification including boot-flow, CPU validation (ARM/RISC-V), peripherals, and power-aware scenarios.
- Execute protocol and interface validation for AXI, AHB, CHI, PCIe, USB, LPDDR4/5, QUPSS, eMMC, SD, UFS, and similar interfaces.
- Automate verification flows and productivity tasks using scripting tools; use waveform tools for analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to plan verification and support pre-silicon/post-silicon validation.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 7–10 years of hands-on SoC Design Verification experience.
- Proven experience in SoC-level testbench architecture, test development, and test-plan creation.
- Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, SVA, and PSS.
- Experience with industry-standard interfaces and protocols (PCIe, USB, LPDDR4/5, AXI/AHB/CHI, QUP, eMMC/SD/UFS).
- Knowledge of processor architectures (ARM, RISC-V) and NoC/interconnect concepts.
- Experience with power management concepts and power-aware verification methodologies.
- Scripting skills (Python, Perl, TCL, Bash) for automation.
- Experience with waveform debugging tools (e.g., Verdi) and strong root-cause analysis.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to Gate-Level Simulation (GLS).
- Experience with high-speed protocols (PCIe Gen5/6, USB 3.x/4) and multimedia/DDR subsystem verification.
- Experience with pre-silicon/post-silicon coordination.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years' relevant experience; OR Master's in those fields with 3+ years; OR PhD with 2+ years. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable. Fields may include Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
