Job Title
Staff Engineer - RTL Design
Role Summary
Senior RTL design engineer on the Central Engineering digital team responsible for developing ultra-dense, high-performance SRAM memory compilers and related IP for use across Marvell product lines.
Work as a design leader and contributor across micro-architecture, RTL implementation, verification, physical design signoff and post-silicon validation; mentor junior engineers and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Experience Level
Senior — the posting indicates this is a senior/staff level role. See Education Requirements for stated years of professional experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, verification and coordination tasks:
- Contribute to or lead micro-architecture definition and block-level specifications.
- Implement specifications with RTL coding best practices and perform RTL reviews.
- Collaborate with synthesis and physical design teams for timing closure and signoff.
- Support pre-silicon verification: review test plans, coverage analysis, and full-chip simulation and debug.
- Support post-silicon validation and device qualification for production.
- Coordinate across multiple design centers, software teams, and external customers.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers; assist project managers with scoping and task assignment.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and personal attributes.
- Strong micro-architecture and RTL design experience for complex Custom SoC/ASIC products (hardware accelerators, embedded processors, or general-purpose processors).
- Excellent digital logic design and debugging skills.
- Hands-on RTL design, synthesis, static timing closure, formal verification, gate-level simulation, and block-level functional verification experience.
- Proficiency with front-end design tools and chip-development methodologies.
- Familiarity with common protocols and interfaces (PCIe, CXL, D2D, UCIe, USB; knowledge of AHB/AXI/I2C/UART and memory interfaces is beneficial).
- Strong problem solving, communication, team leadership, and mentoring capabilities; able to operate in a fast-paced environment and lead through ambiguity.
- Knowledge of scripting (Perl, Tcl, UNIX shell) is a plus.
Education Requirements
Stated: Bachelor's, Master's and/or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. The posting also specifies 4+ years of related professional experience.
