Staff Engineer - RF/Mixed Signal IC Design
Role Summary
Lead design, verification, and integration of analog and mixed-signal IP for wireless system-on-chips. Own RF IC development from architecture through post-silicon bring-up and work cross-functionally with firmware, digital, and board teams to meet performance targets.
Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and document results to publication standard.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff level). The role expects demonstrated technical leadership and chip‑lead experience; typical backgrounds include PhD holders or engineers with multiple years of senior industry experience.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include technical leadership, delivery of tapeouts, and cross-team integration.
- Lead design, verification, and integration of analog/mixed-signal IP into Wi‑R SoCs.
- Own RF IC development from architecture through post‑silicon bring‑up and characterization.
- Collaborate with firmware, digital, and board engineering teams to optimize system performance.
- Mentor and grow junior engineers; set long‑term technical direction.
- Publish and document work with conference‑level rigor; maintain design/release documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical qualifications and hands-on skills; preferred items follow.
- Must-have: Proven leadership of multiple successful analog/mixed‑signal tapeouts (source expects 2+).
- Must-have: Expertise in wireless communication IC design and system-level RF performance tradeoffs.
- Must-have: Chip‑lead experience or equivalent publications/track record in top conferences and journals.
- Preferred: Familiarity with ADS, LTSpice, or similar circuit simulation tools.
- Preferred: Board‑level and firmware debugging experience; familiarity with PCB tools (Altium, Eagle, OrCAD).
- Preferred: Scripting for automation (Python, LabVIEW) and hands‑on RF lab experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, and test equipment.
Education Requirements
PhD in Analog/Mixed‑Signal Design preferred. Alternatively, MS in a related field with 7+ years of relevant industry experience. Conference/journal publications (ISSCC, JSSC, CICC, VLSI) or equivalent chip‑lead experience are acceptable evidence of senior technical contribution.
