Staff Engineer Photolithography
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Staff Engineer Photolithography
Role Summary
Responsible for addressing critical photolithography scribe and overlay challenges for memory devices. The role supports optical simulation and mark design, identifies root causes for complex overlay issues, provides simulation training, and defines and leads projects to close photolithography performance gaps across current and future nodes.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include technical leadership, project definition, and cross-functional execution to improve overlay and scribe performance.
- Define and lead multi-disciplinary projects addressing overlay and scribe issues for N, N+1, and N+2 nodes.
- Model and simulate optical behavior of scribe/overlay marks; recommend mark designs and improvements.
- Work with vendor applications and suppliers to identify and implement overlay/ scribe improvements.
- Diagnose root causes related to lens aberrations, scanner chuck differences, and process variation that affect overlay.
- Standardize methods and procedures across teams and fabs and document results in written reports.
- Provide technical advice to senior management and build strong internal customer relationships.
- Train and mentor photolithography engineers on simulation tools and methods.
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while following organizational and legal requirements.
Requirements
Core technical skills, domain knowledge, and collaboration capabilities required for successful performance.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of photolithography principles and optical metrology.
- Must-have: Knowledge of how lens aberrations, scanner variation, and process changes affect overlay.
- Must-have: Familiarity with alignment and overlay mark types and how design choices impact overlay errors.
- Must-have: Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Must-have: Curiosity for R&D and ability to translate research into production-worthy solutions.
- Must-have: Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with overlay mark simulation software.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with semiconductor process integration.
Education Requirements
