Staff Engineer - NVE PE
Role Summary
Staff Engineer in Non-Volatile Engineering (NVE) Product Engineering responsible for enabling NAND and NAND-based system product development, New Product Introduction, and qualified releases to internal and external customers.
The role establishes infrastructure, automation, and AI-enabled engineering workflows to accelerate development cycle time from first silicon to qualified system and supports cross-functional debug, failure analysis, and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities
Primary duties include system-level support, automation, and failure analysis for NAND products.
- Partner with NAND Technology, Design, Product, and System teams to enable product development and qualification.
- Set up infrastructure, automation frameworks, and AI-enabled workflows for system-level NAND evaluation.
- Support controller-based NAND testing, validation, and failure analysis; accelerate root-cause detection using analytics and AI-assisted tools.
- Lead component NAND device qualification activities.
- Drive failure analysis from system level to NAND level and provide actionable, data-driven feedback.
- Perform electrical and physical failure analysis and coordinate cross-functional resolution for SSD, Embedded NAND, and Component NAND issues.
- Troubleshoot customer-return failures and develop corrective actions and solutions.
- Develop and implement automation, scripting, and AI-assisted engineering solutions to reduce cycle time and improve product quality.
- Use data analytics and machine learning to derive insights from validation, reliability, and manufacturing data to support engineering decisions.
- Advocate and champion AI-enabled methods, identifying opportunities to apply automation and generative AI tools to improve engineering effectiveness.
Requirements
Required and preferred technical skills and attributes (education details are summarized separately under Education Requirements).
Must-have:
- 10+ years of related experience in NAND/non-volatile storage product engineering.
- Understanding of NAND system product classes and advanced NAND flash technologies.
- Experience with computer hardware and storage interfaces; familiarity with SATA/SAS is an advantage.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as C, C++, Python, or Perl.
- Experience with automation frameworks, data analytics, and AI-assisted development tools or platforms.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Effective written and spoken English communication skills.
- Self-motivation, continuous learning mindset, and ability to work cross-functionally.
Nice-to-have:
- Memory product knowledge (SSD, embedded NAND) and component qualification experience.
- Familiarity with Automated Test Equipment, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debug tools.
- Experience with simulation tools (example: Verilog, Synopsys VCS).
Education Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering is required. Coursework or equivalent work experience in Python/C/C++, semiconductor physics, data analytics, and statistics is expected.
