Job Title
Staff Engineer, Mixed Signal Design Engineering
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership for the architecture, design, verification, and laboratory validation of complex mixed-signal integrated circuits (power management ICs, ADCs, DACs, PLLs, and mixed-signal blocks). Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers to deliver production-quality semiconductor products.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 7+ years of relevant mixed-signal design experience; 5+ years acceptable with a PhD.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities for this role include end-to-end technical ownership, system-level tradeoffs, and driving design methodology improvements.
- Define architecture and lead design of complex mixed-signal ICs from concept through production release.
- Make system-level tradeoffs (performance, power, area) across analog and digital boundaries.
- Drive integration of analog and digital IP, ensuring robust performance across operating conditions.
- Develop verification strategies and lead advanced lab testing and characterization.
- Provide technical guidance and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Advise physical implementation teams to meet performance and layout constraints.
- Lead complex projects with significant business impact and influence cross-functional technical decisions.
- Contribute to new methods and continuous improvement of mixed-signal design methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools, and working conditions.
- Expertise in mixed-signal circuit design (power management, ADCs, DACs, PLLs) and system-level integration.
- Strong strategic design and performance-optimization skills (noise, timing, power).
- Experience developing comprehensive verification strategies for mixed-signal systems.
- Proficiency with industry-standard EDA and simulation tools, including SPICE, MATLAB, and Cadence Design Suite.
- Advanced simulation and modeling techniques for predicting circuit behavior across conditions.
- Proven ability to drive technical decisions and influence teams without direct authority.
- Record of design innovation and establishing best practices in mixed-signal design.
- Required travel: up to 10% of the time. Shift: 1st Shift/Days.
Education Requirements
Preferred: MSEE with 7β10 years of relevant mixed-signal design experience, or PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience.
