Job Title
Staff Engineer, MEMS Test Engineering - Product Development
Role Summary
Design and deliver test solutions and methods for MEMS devices (accelerometers, gyroscopes) and IMU products through characterization, qualification, and manufacturing. Work on multi-site test hardware/software, calibration methods, and transfer of engineering test solutions to production.
Role provides technical leadership across product development and manufacturing, and includes partial telecommute (2 days/week).
Experience Level
Senior level (Staff Engineer). The posting indicates an expectation equivalent to approximately 5+ years in test engineering or related roles.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities focus on developing test methods and ensuring products meet specification from first silicon to production.
- Design and develop high-performance test hardware and software for MEMS (accelerometers, gyroscopes) for verification, characterization, qualification, wafer probe and final test.
- Define calibration methods for IMU product parameters and set test limits used for datasheets.
- Design PCBs and multi-site test fixtures; define test schematics and work with layout engineers.
- Develop and debug ATE test programs; correlate bench verification to production test results.
- Transfer production test solutions to manufacturing sites and support manufacturing to maintain yield and quality.
- Participate in new product development teams, evaluate new test systems, and define test specifications for MEMS/IMU devices.
- Mentor junior engineers and manage technical project schedules aligned with product introductions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of required capabilities follows.
- Proven programming ability in object-oriented and scripting languages for device/test automation.
- Experience with design verification tools and flows (e.g., Verilog, Verilog simulators, SPICE or equivalent).
- Experience developing software on major ATE platforms and integrating custom PCBs to ATE systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing hardware and software to characterize and production-test analog/mixed-signal ICs.
- Skill using statistical analysis for product validation and setting production/test limits.
- Experience with design-for-testability, product qualification, and inertial test methodologies/specifications.
- Proven ability to release products to production and work cross-functionally with Quality, Reliability, Applications, Assembly, Failure Analysis, and Operations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills for test equipment and test flow issues.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related technical field is required (foreign equivalents accepted). The posting specifies five (5) years of relevant experience as a Test Engineer or related role; experience may be partially satisfied by progress in a PhD program. Master's or PhD in related fields are relevant but not required.
