Job Title
Staff Engineer, IP Dev Layout
Role Summary
Design and deliver critical analog, mixed-signal and custom digital block layouts and support full-chip integration for memory-related IP. Work within a global engineering team to meet tape-out schedules and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting requests 8β15 years of relevant layout experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality block-level layouts and support physical verification, integration, and project scheduling.
- Create and deliver layouts for critical blocks (e.g., temperature sensors, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers).
- Perform layout verification tasks (LVS, DRC, antenna checks) and quality checks; prepare supporting documentation.
- Estimate area/time, plan tasks, and manage execution to meet multiple-project schedules and tape-out deadlines.
- Collaborate and communicate with global engineering teams for integration and project success.
- Support full-chip integration and understand memory design hierarchies and architectures.
Requirements
Core technical skills and experience required for the role.
- Extensive hands-on analog/custom layout experience in advanced CMOS processes (Planar, FinFET).
- Proven expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, and device parasitics.
- Ability to evaluate layout impact on circuit speed, capacitance, power and area; implement build constraints and high-quality layouts.
- Experience in physical verification and problem solving for custom layouts; multiple tape-out support is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective project-management capability.
- Proactive use of AI-related tools to improve day-to-day productivity.
Education Requirements
BE or MTech in Electronics / VLSI Engineering.
