Job Title
Staff Engineer, IP Dev Layout
Role Summary
Design and develop analog, mixed-signal and custom digital block layouts and support full-chip integration for advanced CMOS processes. Lead layout verification, quality checks, scheduling and delivery while coordinating with global engineering teams.
Experience Level
Senior β 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in analog/custom layout and physical verification.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include layout implementation, verification, delivery and project coordination.
- Design and develop layouts for critical analog, mixed-signal and custom digital blocks; support block- and chip-level integration.
- Perform physical verification (LVS, DRC, Antenna checks), conduct quality checks, and produce support documentation.
- Estimate area and time, plan schedules, and drive on-time delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
- Coordinate with global engineering teams and contribute to effective project management and execution.
- Support multiple tape-outs and manage build hierarchy and memory design architectures.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools, and behaviors.
- Proven experience in analog/custom layout for advanced CMOS nodes (Planar, FinFET).
- Expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
- Hands-on experience creating layouts for critical blocks such as temperature sensors, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap/reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, and differential amplifiers.
- Strong understanding of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling, crosstalk, IR-drop, and device parasitics.
- Ability to assess layout impact on circuit speed, capacitance, power, and area; implement high-quality layouts under build constraints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills in physical verification and effective verbal and written communication.
- Proactive in exploring and applying AI-related tools in daily tasks.
- Multiple tape-out support experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or MTech in Electronics / VLSI Engineering specified.
