Marvell TechnologyJob Title
Staff Engineer, Hardware & Silicon Validation
Role Summary
As a Staff Engineer in Hardware & Silicon Validation you will perform analog and silicon-photonics validation, upper electronic measurements, and support coherent digital signal programming. The team validates amplifiers, photonics, and SSD/SoC blocks to ensure high-bandwidth performance for internal and external customers.
Work involves cross-discipline debugging and developing validation firmware and tests to qualify silicon and system-level performance.
Experience Level
Senior role. Typical experience: 3–5 years with a Bachelor's degree or 2–3 years with a Master's degree in relevant engineering fields (per hiring guidelines).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, port, run, and debug bare-metal software and firmware for multiple SSD/SoC blocks.
- Create and maintain test code to validate features, standards, performance, throughput, and power.
- Design and execute test plans; document and present test results internally and to customers.
- Work with Design, Firmware, and Validation teams to investigate failures and identify root causes.
- Perform analog validation on amplifiers, validate silicon photonics, and conduct upper-electronic measurements.
- Use lab equipment (emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to collect data and drive debug.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong C/C++ software development skills and embedded software experience.
- Familiarity with Linux and basic ARM/RISC/SoC architecture concepts.
- Experience with pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, stress and PVT testing.
- Proven debugging skills for hardware/firmware integration issues.
- Practical experience with lab tools: emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
- Good communication skills in English and ability to work across disciplines.
- Working knowledge of DDR, SPI, PCIe, NVMe is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering with 3–5 years of professional experience, or a Master's degree in those fields with 2–3 years of professional experience. Overall GPA expectation listed as 3.5 or higher.
