Role Summary

Join Micron's Firmware Test Engineering team to validate enterprise and datacenter NVMe SSD firmware. The role leads test planning, test-case design, and automated test development across firmware areas such as Front End, Back End/Media management, FTL, and Security.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 7+ years of experience in SSD firmware validation or equivalent firmware test engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and executing firmware validation programs and working with firmware development teams throughout the product lifecycle.

• Define test plans, design test cases, and develop test scripts for enterprise/datacenter NVMe SSD firmware.
• Create and run grey-box and white-box tests to find defects and validate fixes.
• Validate compliance with NVMe/PCIe specifications and customer requirements.
• Integrate tests into automated test environments and collaborate with test execution teams.
• Review, track, and document test results and sightings; report status and risks to stakeholders.
• Drive issues to closure through cross-team collaboration with firmware and product development engineers.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

• Must-have: 7+ years of hands-on SSD firmware validation experience focused on enterprise/datacenter products.
• Must-have: Deep knowledge of NVMe and PCIe protocols and ability to validate against NVMe Cloud SSD specifications.
• Must-have: Experience designing test plans that include access patterns, NVMe protocol flows, firmware test hooks, and vendor-specific commands.
• Must-have: Strong Linux debugging skills and coding experience in Python for test development and automation.
• Must-have: Experience with white-box and grey-box test methodologies and integrating tests into automated frameworks.
• Must-have: Effective oral and written communication, collaboration, analytical problem solving, and project-management skills.
• Must-have: Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude) to improve productivity and assist tasks.
• Nice-to-have: Hands-on debugging of NVMe protocol issues using protocol analyzers (LeCroy, JDSU) and deep system storage knowledge (CPU, memory, PCIe, drivers, OS, firmware).
