Job Title

Staff Engineer - Embedded Firmware Development (CXL / PCIe / Near-memory accelerator / Memory-Expansion Controllers)

Role Summary

Lead firmware development for Marvell's Structera CXL and memory-expansion product families, focusing on CXL/PCIe endpoint devices and near-memory accelerators. Deliver firmware features, resolve complex system-level issues, and align firmware work with product and project schedules.

Collaborate with architects, hardware and software teams, QA/validation, system test, product management and customers; provide technical leadership and mentor team members.

Experience Level

Senior - typically requires 6+ years of embedded firmware development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and debug embedded firmware for CXL/PCIe endpoint devices and memory-expansion controllers.
  • Define project goals, schedules, and deliverables; drive execution across distributed engineering teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to firmware engineers.
  • Work closely with architects, hardware teams, validation/QA, system test, product documentation, and customers to ensure product readiness.
  • Collaborate across multiple sites and cross-functional groups to integrate firmware with system and software stacks.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex ARM-based firmware issues and support system-level debugging and validation.
  • Contribute to security-related firmware features and compliance with encryption standards.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • 6+ years of experience developing firmware for embedded systems.
  • Experience with the Zephyr development environment.
  • Strong C/C++ firmware design and implementation skills.
  • Proven ARM M7 debugging and low-level firmware debugging skills.
  • Good understanding of PCIe concepts and endpoint device behavior.
  • Knowledge of encryption standards relevant to firmware.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor engineers in a distributed team.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with CXL technologies, near-memory accelerators, or memory-expansion controllers.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
