Staff Engineer - DFT
Marvell TechnologyJob Title
Staff Engineer - DFT
Role Summary
The Staff DFT Engineer will define and implement design-for-test strategies and flows for Marvell's Optical DSP products, focusing on scan, compression, MBIST, ATPG, and silicon bring-up. The role is part of the Optical DSP team in Santa Clara and works closely with PD/STA, verification, and manufacturing teams on next-generation ASICs.
This position may require access to export-controlled technology; applicants may be subject to an export license review prior to employment.
Experience Level
Senior. This staff role expects multiple years of DFT experience (see Education Requirements for degree-related experience guidance).
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Implement scan, compression, OCC, wrappers, and MBIST on assigned blocks/partitions.
- Run ATPG, analyze coverage, and drive coverage improvement through test points and fault exclusions.
- Run DFT DRC and gate-level (zero-delay and SDF) simulations and debug failures.
- Support DFT timing constraints and closure with PD/STA teams.
- Generate test patterns and support silicon bring-up and ATE pattern debug.
- Automate flows with scripting and document methodology.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Proven, hands-on DFT experience implementing scan/ATPG/MBIST/JTAG.
- Experience using Synopsys or Siemens (Mentor/Siemens EDA) DFT tools.
- Proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog and scripting (Tcl, Python, or Perl).
- Familiarity with ASIC flow, static timing analysis (STA), and gate-level simulation.
- Experience generating patterns and supporting silicon bring-up and ATE debug.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Engineering (CE) preferred. The posting specifies 5+ years of DFT experience for candidates with a BS and 3+ years for candidates with an MS. No explicit PhD or "equivalent experience" language was provided.
