Staff Engineer, Development Product Engineering
Role Summary
Lead design, development, and validation of hardware and software test solutions for new products and product releases. Act as a Core Team technical lead to define test strategies, resolve development issues, and deliver production-ready test programs and hardware.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and U.S. counterparts, prepare technical reports, and drive improvements in test time, yield, and development processes.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 8β15 years of product development experience with strong background in test development, programming, debugging, and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include test development, validation, and cross-team coordination.
- Set up products on Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and wafer probe/packaged device handling equipment.
- Perform software and hardware validation: GR&R, spike analysis, loop studies, bench correlation, and pre-production characterization.
- Review ATE test results and statistical analysis (histograms, failure-mode paretos, trend plots, correlation studies).
- Review and approve Product Test Capability (PTC) results and deliverables per governing specifications.
- Develop test software for probe and final test (ETS code or similar) and work with Core Team to validate and release test programs.
- Design or modify probe and final-test hardware; build temporary development hardware for pre-production characterization as needed.
- Report status and results to the Core Team; maintain electronic product notebook and follow file-naming/web-directory guidelines.
- Lead test-time reduction, platform conversion, yield-improvement, and pathfinding initiatives; establish best practices.
- Provide technical coaching and deliver technical training to Development Product Engineers (DPEs).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, with additional desirable qualifications.
- Must-have: Extensive product development experience in test development (probe, final test, characterization) with strong programming and debug skills and practical ATE knowledge.
- Must-have: Experience defining and implementing test program frameworks, methodologies, and cross-platform test development.
- Must-have: Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities; effective communicator and team collaborator.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Eagle Test Systems or similar test platforms.
- Nice-to-have: Prior experience leading yield improvement, platform conversions, or test-time reduction projects; experience coaching or training engineers.
- Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, dependable, and a collaborative team player.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent semiconductor testing experience.
