Staff Engineer - Design Verification (VIP)
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer responsible for developing and maintaining Verification IP (VIP) used to validate industry-standard protocols. The role focuses on building reusable, coverage-driven verification environments, debugging multi-layer protocol issues, and supporting customer integrations.
Works within R&D and Design IP teams to ensure VIP quality, scalability, and alignment with product roadmaps and customer needs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests 5+ years of hands-on experience developing Verification IP.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, and customer support for VIP products.
- Design, develop, and maintain Verification IP using SystemVerilog and UVM for protocols such as AMBA, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, UEC, UAL, and MIPI.
- Create verification plans mapping protocol specifications to test scenarios, coverage goals, and corner-case strategies.
- Implement sequences, test scenarios, and checkers to drive functional and code coverage.
- Debug complex simulation failures across multi-layer protocol stacks and customer integration environments.
- Improve VIP performance, reusability, and scalability as protocols and customer needs evolve.
- Support customers during VIP integration, troubleshooting, and deployment.
- Collaborate with Design IP, R&D, and field teams to align VIP capabilities with product roadmaps.
Requirements

- Must-have: 5+ years of hands-on experience developing Verification IP; strong proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM methodology.
- Must-have: Deep practical experience with NVMe protocol (mandatory) and proven ability to debug protocol and integration failures.
- Must-have: Demonstrated ability to create and execute coverage-driven verification plans and analyze functional and code coverage results.
- Must-have: Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with PCIe, USB, Ethernet, MIPI or other industry-standard protocols; prior BFM/IP/VIP development and integration experience.
- Nice-to-have: Experience working directly with customers or field teams during product deployment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
