Job Title

IP Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on FPGA-based prototyping and emulation systems to validate IP blocks and SoCs across x86/ARM/RISC-V, PCIe, CXL, DDR, and UCIe. Define and execute validation plans, bring up testbenches and hardware, debug failures, and document validation strategies for use across product and foundry teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience range: approximately 1–3+ years depending on prior education and role history.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation for IP and SoC designs using FPGA and emulation platforms, troubleshooting hardware/software issues, and communicating progress and risks.

  • Define and develop test coverage plans for IPs and protocols (x86/ARM/RISC-V, PCIe, CXL, DDR, UCIe).
  • Scope, develop, and execute validation and regression test plans for IPs and SoCs.
  • Bring up and troubleshoot testbenches, FPGA boards, test cards, and associated debug tools.
  • Document validation strategies, test plans, best practices, and lessons learned.
  • Report milestone progress, challenges, risks, and quality/schedule impact to leads and architects.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role.

  • Hardware description languages: Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog.
  • Software languages: C, C++, Python.
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture and technical specifications (architecture, microarchitecture, registers, schematics).
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and software debugging tools; ability to diagnose simulation, emulation, and silicon failures.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience debugging Intel chipsets or CPUs; IA-core assembly familiarity.
  • Experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and emulation integration.
  • Familiarity with verification tools such as VCS, Verdi, DVE, and OVM/UVM.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field with 1+ years of relevant experience.
