Staff Engineer, Design Verification Engineering
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership for verification strategies of complex analog and mixed-signal designs. Architect verification environments, drive coverage-driven verification closure, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with design teams and customers.
Experience Level
Senior β 7β10+ years of relevant digital and mixed-signal design verification experience.
Responsibilities
Lead verification activities for complex designs and ensure quality from RTL through post-silicon.
- Define and lead verification strategy and architecture for digital and mixed-signal blocks.
- Design and implement UVM/SystemVerilog verification environments and testbenches.
- Develop verification plans, drive coverage closure, and manage sign-off criteria.
- Debug complex RTL and gate-level issues and coordinate cross-team problem resolution.
- Provide post-silicon validation support and failure analysis.
- Mentor and develop junior verification engineers and promote best practices.
- Coordinate verification tasks across functions and act as a technical contact for customers.
- Represent verification decisions in architecture and methodology discussions.
Requirements
Core technical skills and hands-on experience required for the role.
- Expert-level SystemVerilog and UVM for verification environment architecture.
- Proven ability to create and execute coverage-driven verification plans.
- Deep experience in mixed-signal verification methodologies and challenges.
- Advanced debugging skills across RTL, gate-level, and mixed abstractions.
- Proficiency with EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys) and formal verification techniques.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Perl, TCL, Shell) for verification frameworks.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to influence methodology adoption.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% for customer or cross-site activities.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
