Staff Engineer, Design Verification

Role Summary

Join the AGI Computing Lab to lead verification of IP blocks for AI accelerators. The role focuses on developing verification infrastructure, testbenches, automation for build/simulation/regression, and closing verification quality metrics.

This position is on-site at the San Jose, CA office and works cross-functionally with architects, RTL designers, compiler and simulation engineers.

Experience Level

Senior — experience guidance: Bachelor's with 10+ years, Master's with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute verification activities for IP and SoC blocks; build scalable verification environments and mentor others.

  • Design and develop verification infrastructure and automation for build, simulation, regression, and triage workflows.
  • Lead verification of IP blocks for AI accelerators; define verification scope and test plans for functional and performance validation.
  • Create directed and randomized testbenches and close verification quality metrics.
  • Provide documentation for verification strategy and maintain easy-to-use test environments.
  • Debug failures collaboratively with design, compiler, and simulation teams.
  • Mentor and guide junior verification engineers.

Must-have:

  • Strong background in SoC or IP verification and testbench development using UVM and SystemVerilog.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Perl or Python for verification automation.
  • Experience verifying at multiple levels of logic, from complex IP blocks through dies and full systems.
  • Solid RTL understanding and strong debugging skills.
  • Experience with microarchitecture and computer architecture, preferably in AI accelerator domains.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and mentor others.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with computational logic, interconnect networks, or memory systems.
  • Familiarity with FPGA and emulation platforms.
