Staff Engineer, DDEG Design Methodology
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Staff Engineer, DDEG Design Methodology
Role Summary
Ownership of verification and end-to-end analysis for full-chip gate-level and block-level DRAM and emerging memory designs, including low-power and power-management features across DDR4/LPDDR4/DDR5/LPDDR5 families.
Work with global design and verification teams to develop verification methodology, testbenches, and flows; accelerate verification using AI-based tools and automation while ensuring technical rigor.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Staff). No explicit years-of-experience requirement stated.
Responsibilities
Provide verification leadership for complex DRAM/memory designs and drive automation and methodology improvements.
- Lead verification of pre-silicon block and full-chip designs: simulate, analyze, and debug at gate and mixed-signal levels.
- Develop test cases, stimuli, and testbenches to improve functional coverage for DRAM and emerging memory architectures.
- Use and extend verification flows and environments (SV/UVM) for block and full-chip regressions and coverage analysis.
- Leverage AI-based tools and automation to accelerate verification cycles, generate testbench components, and improve debug efficiency.
- Validate AI outputs critically: review assumptions, cross-check with specs, simulations, waveforms, assertions, and coverage reports; document acceptance or changes.
- Collaborate internationally with design and verification teams to define and implement new verification methodologies.
- Mentor and guide new and junior engineers on verification techniques and best practices.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.
- Must-have: Strong experience with SystemVerilog and UVM-based verification; building SV testbenches at block and full-chip level.
- Must-have: Proficient with SPICE and/or Verilog simulations and experience with simulation/debug tools (examples: Virtuoso, Xcellium, Simvision, vsim, Waveview, Finseim, HSpice).
- Must-have: Experience in AMS verification and co-simulation; understanding of digital and mixed-signal circuits and verification techniques.
- Must-have: Strong debugging, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team and guide others.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience in DRAM, SRAM or other memory domains; PLI coding and real-number modeling; scripting skills (Perl, Python).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Electronics Engineering or a related engineering field is required.
