Job Title

Staff Engineer - CVD Advanced NAND Process Development

Role Summary

Develop and mature chemical vapor deposition (CVD) thin-film processes for advanced NAND process development and pilot manufacturing. Work within a process development team to deliver robust, manufacturable films that meet physical and electrical requirements.

Collaborate with integration, metrology, characterization, electrical failure analysis, yield, manufacturing, and equipment vendors to move processes from R&D into production-ready state.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Staff). Relevant experience expectations are reflected in the Education Requirements below (PhD, or Master's with ≥3 years, or Bachelor's with ≥5 years of relevant experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include process development, characterization, and transfer; additional duties support documentation, continuous improvement, and responsible use of AI tools.

  • Develop, optimize, and characterize CVD thin-film processes to meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability targets.
  • Design and execute experiments, perform DOE/SPC, analyze data, and present results in technical forums.
  • Perform film characterization (examples: SEM, TEM, XPS, SIMS, AFM) and correlate measurements to process outcomes.
  • Support process transfer and pilot line execution; sustain process maturity and capability for owned processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and equipment vendors to ensure processes meet physical and electrical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experiments, process settings, and learnings; produce technical reports and summaries.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency and quality, following organizational standards and legal requirements.

Requirements

Technical and professional requirements for immediate contribution.

  • Must-have technical skills: Fundamental knowledge of thin-film deposition (CVD) and film characterization techniques.
  • Ability to design experiments, apply DOE/SPC, analyze experimental data, and draw conclusions.
  • Understanding of plasma and vacuum systems and process-chemistry relationships where applicable.
  • Must-have soft skills: Structured problem-solving, learning agility in an R&D environment, clear communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • AI competency: Baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly for research, analysis, and operational tasks.
  • Preferred: Exposure to dielectric or carbon-based films, knowledge of NAND structural/electrical requirements, and experience with equipment suppliers or tool qualification/transfer activities.

Education Requirements

PhD in a relevant field; or Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields include Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related technical disciplines. Role expects readiness for R&D/process-development environments.
