Job Title

Staff Engineer - Custom Solutions Engineering (SoC)

Role Summary

Join Marvell's Hardware and Silicon Validation team to deliver high-bandwidth SoC solutions. The role focuses on analog and silicon-photonics validation, amplifier and receiver measurements, and supporting coherent digital signal programming for internal and external customers.

Work includes SoC bring-up, subsystem validation, cross-functional debugging, and producing validation plans and reports.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting indicates typical experience guidance of 3–5 years with a Bachelor's degree or 2–3 years with a Master's degree in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include planning and executing SoC and subsystem validation, developing firmware and test automation, and driving cross-layer debug to closure.

  • Design and develop firmware and test code to validate IPs (security IPs such as Caliptra, DMA, boot sequences) and SoC features.
  • Create comprehensive SoC validation plans covering functional, performance, and compliance testing.
  • Perform bring-up, boot validation, and end-to-end verification on multiprocessor SoC architectures.
  • Validate and debug interfaces such as SAS, SATA, UFS, USB, DDR, SPI, I2C, and UART.
  • Develop and enhance Linux drivers and embedded software to support validation activities.
  • Implement validation test suites and automation frameworks using C, C++, Python, and Rust.
  • Debug issues across hardware, firmware, operating system, and driver layers and drive resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with design, firmware, board, and design verification (DV) teams to reproduce, analyze, and fix issues.
  • Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, emulators) and produce detailed validation and protocol-compliance reports.

Requirements

Technical skills and domain experience required or preferred.

  • Must-have: Strong C/C++ software development skills and solid embedded software experience.
  • Must-have: Good working knowledge of Linux and basic understanding of ARM/RISC microprocessor or SoC architectures.
  • Must-have: Experience in Pre-Si and Post-Si validation, stress and PVT testing, with proven debug abilities across HW/FW/OS/driver layers.
  • Must-have: Experience developing test automation and validation suites (C, C++, Python, Rust).
  • Preferred: Familiarity with interfaces and IPs such as SAS, SATA, UFS, USB, Security IP (Caliptra) and prior security IP validation experience.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with lab tools: emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Administrative: Role may require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates may undergo export license review.
  • Interview note: Use of AI tools during interviews is not permitted per the posting.

Education Requirements

Posting specifies a Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering (with ~3–5 years professional experience) or a Master's degree in those fields (with ~2–3 years professional experience). No other certifications or fields were listed.
