Staff Engineer - CPU Verification
Role Summary
Lead verification efforts for CPU subsystems on the SoC team. Define and execute verification strategy, build scalable UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches, drive coverage closure, and lead debug to ensure silicon-quality CPU/IP delivery.
Experience Level
Senior — 7+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience, with demonstrated CPU or complex IP verification background.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and execute verification plans for CPU subsystems (e.g., load/store units, MMU, execution pipelines).
- Design, implement and maintain UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches and verification infrastructure.
- Create test content: constrained-random stimulus, directed tests, and assembly-level tests to meet coverage targets.
- Lead complex debug and root-cause analysis at unit and SoC levels to identify architectural and RTL issues.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior verification engineers to establish and enforce verification best practices.
Requirements
Key technical requirements and preferences.
- 7+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience focused on CPU or complex IP blocks (must).
- Proficient in SystemVerilog and UVM (must).
- Strong understanding of computer architecture: pipelines, caches, out-of-order execution, and memory consistency models (must).
- Proven experience debugging RTL and verifying at both unit and SoC integration levels (must).
- Experience developing constrained-random, directed, and assembly-level tests (must).
- Technical leadership and mentorship experience (must).
- Preferred: experience with RISC-V or ARM/x86 ISA and prior CPU verification work (nice-to-have).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
