Job Title

Staff Engineer - Camera Firmware

Role Summary

Develop and productize camera firmware and ISP drivers for Qualcomm chipsets used in mobile, XR, and automotive products. Work across firmware, systems, software, and hardware teams to validate, optimize and commercialize camera solutions.

Drive firmware-level prototypes and influence camera hardware architecture to meet power, performance and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

Deliver firmware, validate features, and support product commercialization across chipset lifecycles.

  • Design, implement and productize camera firmware and unified ISP drivers in C/C++ on controller processors running an RTOS.
  • Prototype end-to-end use cases with firmware test benches for early FW/HW verification.
  • Profile and optimize camera/video pipelines for performance and power.
  • Collaborate with systems, software and hardware teams during design, validation and commercialization phases.
  • Interact with OEM customer engineering teams to stabilize and deliver solutions for customer use cases.
  • Debug complex system-level issues and root-cause failures across firmware, drivers and hardware interfaces.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required; nice-to-have items noted separately.

  • Experience in image processing, computer vision or video domains.
  • Solid understanding of image processing / computer vision fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with camera/video/computer-vision hardware pipelines: development, porting and optimization.
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills, multithreading and RTOS/OS concepts.
  • Strong system-level debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and with customer engineering groups.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Nice-to-have: device driver development for hardware.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with Tensilica and/or ARM processors.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field plus 4+ years of systems-engineering or related work experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 3+ years of related experience; OR PhD in those fields plus 2+ years of related experience.
