Role Summary

Lead and execute SoC physical design tasks at block level through tapeout readiness. Work within a global engineering team to deliver placement, clock-tree synthesis, routing, and physical verification while meeting congestion, timing and area targets.

This role is technical and execution-focused; it requires hands-on problem solving to achieve timing closure and manufacturable layouts.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include block-level physical implementation, verification, and closure activities:

• Perform floorplanning, partitioning, placement, clock-tree synthesis and routing for block-level designs.
• Run and analyze physical verification (LVS/DRC/ERC/Antenna) and fix violations.
• Achieve congestion, timing and area targets; drive timing closure and congestion resolution.
• Conduct STA, equivalence checking, crosstalk and noise delay analysis.
• Implement timing and functional ECOs and verify their correctness.
• Optimize power and support power-aware physical implementation tasks.
• Collaborate with and mentor other team members in a distributed/global team environment.
• Adapt to new tools and methodologies and communicate status and technical issues clearly.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform independently:

• Hands-on experience in SoC/block physical design (placement, CTS, routing, floorplanning).
• Experience with STA, equivalence checking, ECO implementation, and timing closure.
• Experience in physical verification flows and fixing LVS/DRC/ERC/Antenna issues.
• Strong problem-solving skills for congestion resolution and timing optimization.
• Ability to work independently and guide other engineers in a global team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Familiarity with tools such as Cadence Innovus/Encounter, Synopsys ICC, Mentor Calibre, LEC, and PrimeTime.
• Experience with formal verification and advanced timing/noise analysis techniques.
