Staff Engineer, ASIC Layout

Role Summary

Responsible for high-speed analog ASIC layout including floorplanning, power planning, parasitic optimization, device matching, and abstract view generation. Works on advanced technology nodes and collaborates with cross-functional and globally distributed teams to deliver manufacturable physical designs.

Experience Level

Senior - 7+ years of relevant ASIC layout experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Perform high-speed analog/mixed-signal layout: floorplan, power planning, placement, and routing.
• Optimize parasitics and ensure device matching for performance and yield.
• Execute parasitic extraction and resolve DRC/LVS issues to achieve sign-off quality layouts.
• Support ESD layout and EM/IR analysis and mitigation flows.
• Generate and maintain abstract views for back-end integration.
• Develop automation and scripts (SKILL or other languages) to improve layout productivity.
• Collaborate with circuit designers, verification, and manufacturing teams across locations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Hands-on experience with high-speed analog layout including floorplan, power planning, parasitic optimization, and device matching.
• Experience with advanced process nodes (16 nm and below).
• Expertise with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, layout extraction, and DRC/LVS flows.
• Exposure to ESD layout practices and EM/IR analysis flows.
• Proficient in SKILL or another scripting language for automation.
• Experience generating abstract/layout views for backend flows.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in cross-functional and globally distributed teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Familiarity using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Co-pilot, Claude code) to support day-to-day work.

Education Requirements

Listed qualifications: M.S./MTech, BS/BE, or Diploma.
