Job Title
Staff Engineer, Analog/Mixed-Signal Design
Role Summary
This role leads design and development of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for battery monitoring in the Automotive Electrification Business Unit. The engineer will drive circuit architecture, silicon bring-up, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver safe, reliable battery management solutions.
Primary focus areas include ADCs, references, oscillators, power converters, and functional-safety integration for automotive battery-monitoring systems.
Experience Level
Senior level β typically 8+ years of relevant analog and mixed-signal IC design experience.
Responsibilities
The role requires technical leadership across design, verification, test, and system teams plus hands-on circuit development and silicon debug.
- Lead analog and mixed-signal circuit architecture and detailed design for BMS applications (ADCs, references, oscillators, power converters).
- Define and apply functional-safety requirements and collaborate with safety teams to meet ISO26262 expectations.
- Perform silicon evaluation, debug, failure analysis, and support test characterization.
- Drive design reviews, maintain high-quality design practices, and ensure requirements traceability and documentation.
- Collaborate with layout, verification, test, applications, and systems engineering to resolve integration issues.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of analog design methods.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and responsibilities.
- 8+ years of hands-on analog and mixed-signal IC design experience (precision signal-chain blocks and system-level tradeoffs).
- Strong expertise in precision analog circuits, noise management, signal integrity, and power-domain crossings.
- Practical awareness of layout-sensitive analog design: matching, parasitics, shielding, isolation, and floor-planning impacts.
- Experience with silicon bring-up, debug, test characterization, and failure analysis.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, perform design reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
- Familiarity with ISO26262 functional safety concepts and ability to incorporate safety into product design.
- Effective documentation and requirements-traceability practices for regulated or safety-related products.
- Willingness to travel ~10% for collaboration and validation activities.
Nice-to-have:
- Specific experience with ADC design, on-chip references, oscillator design, or power converter circuits for automotive applications.
- Prior work on battery management systems or automotive electrification products.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
