Staff Engineer, Analog/Mixed-Signal Design
Role Summary
Lead design and development of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for battery monitoring within the Automotive Electrification Business Unit (Battery Management Systems group). Deliver ADCs, references, oscillators, and power converters that meet performance, safety, and reliability targets for automotive applications.
Provide cross-functional technical leadership, coordinate with layout, verification, test, applications and system teams, and support silicon bring-up and product delivery.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 8+ years of analog and mixed-signal design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this role include technical leadership of circuit design and validation, plus cross-team coordination.
- Lead design and development of precision analog and mixed-signal circuits for battery monitoring (ADCs, references, oscillators, power converters).
- Incorporate functional safety requirements and ISO26262 considerations into architecture and design decisions.
- Support silicon evaluation, system-level debug, and failure analysis to ensure robust performance.
- Conduct and drive effective design reviews and enforce high-quality analog design practices.
- Maintain requirements traceability and generate clear documentation and verification evidence.
- Collaborate with layout, verification, test, applications, and system engineering to meet project schedules.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of analog design methods.
- Travel as required for collaboration, validation, or customer support (approximately 10%).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Extensive experience in precision analog circuit design, including signal-chain building blocks, references, oscillators, and power conversion circuits.
- Deep understanding of mixed-signal integration challenges: power-domain crossings, signal integrity, noise management, and system-level tradeoffs.
- Knowledge of layout-sensitive analog design: matching, parasitics, shielding, isolation, and floor-planning tradeoffs.
- Practical experience with silicon bring-up, evaluation, debug, and failure analysis.
- Familiarity applying ISO26262 functional safety standards to circuit and product design.
- Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary projects, provide technical direction, and mentor team members.
Nice-to-have: direct experience with battery management systems (BMS), automotive qualification, or power-system-level design.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
