Staff Engineer, Analog Design Engineering
Analog DevicesJob Title
Staff Engineer, Analog Design Engineering
Role Summary
Senior analog IC design engineer responsible for leading architecture, circuit design, verification, and silicon bring-up of power-management ICs (PMICs). Works within ADI Technology, Product & Operations to deliver mixed-signal power solutions and integrate analog/power IP into complex SoCs.
Experience Level
Senior - the role expects an experienced engineer (see Education Requirements for the specific years-of-experience guidance).
Responsibilities
Lead design and delivery of high-performance mixed-signal/power-management ICs across architecture, implementation, and validation.
- Define architectures and drive system-level trade-offs and transistor-level design decisions.
- Own block-level and transistor-level circuit design, with comprehensive simulation and verification.
- Develop product objective specifications: die size, package, pinout, block diagrams, and electrical specs.
- Collaborate with system architects to define end-to-end power architectures for SoC integration.
- Support layout, lab evaluation, testing, qualification, and product engineering to meet requirements and quality goals.
- Lead power block bring-up, silicon debug, and optimization across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations.
- Apply AI tools and techniques to improve design automation, optimization, and modeling workflows.
- Improve analog design and verification methodologies to reduce time and cost to market.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and capabilities for independent leadership of analog/power design projects.
- Extensive hands-on experience in power-management IC development: switching regulators (buck/boost/buck-boost), LDOs, and charge pumps.
- Strong understanding of analog circuit building blocks: amplifiers, data converters (ADCs/DACs), PLLs, bandgaps, and biasing circuits.
- Proficiency in Cadence design environment and mixed-signal simulation tools.
- Proficiency in SIMPLIS.
- Proven ability to lead design from architecture through silicon validation and product debug.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for working with geographically distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience integrating power-management and analog IP into complex SoC environments.
- Nice-to-have: experience or awareness of AI-assisted tools to improve design productivity.
Education Requirements
M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of relevant analog and power-management IC design experience, or Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering or related field) with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant analog and power-management IC design experience. No other degrees, certifications, or equivalent-experience language were specified.
