Job Title
Staff Engineer, Analog Design Engineering
Role Summary
Join the Power Systems Group (PSG) Technologist Team to define architectures and perform transistor-level design for advanced analog and mixed-signal power, supervisor, and protection ICs. This role combines deep analog circuit expertise with system-level thinking to move early-stage technology exploration into demonstrators and product enablement.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 7β10+ years of relevant analog/mixed-signal IC design experience, with leadership or technical lead responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Drive architecture, design, and enablement of next-generation power and protection ICs; support silicon bring-up and mentor others.
- Define architectures and lead transistor-level design of analog/mixed-signal ICs focused on power, supervision, and protection.
- Translate system requirements (industrial automation, robotics, safety systems) into scalable IC architectures.
- Explore and prototype emerging H2/H3 technologies, including safety-enabled designs, diagnostics, and intelligent protection features.
- Lead design and verification reviews, silicon correlation, and first-silicon bring-up activities.
- Support layout, lab validation, measurement correlation, documentation, and debugging for prototypes and production silicon.
- Mentor and elevate team capabilities in advanced analog design and system-level thinking.
Requirements
Core technical skills and domain experience required; preferred items noted separately.
- Proven analog/mixed-signal IC design experience, typically 7β10+ years.
- Expertise in one or more domains: power management (LDO, DC-DC, drivers), supervisor/protection circuits, or high-voltage/high-reliability IC design.
- Deep transistor-level design and simulation skills; strong understanding of noise, stability, matching, reliability, and parasitics.
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso and hands-on lab evaluation, measurement, and silicon validation.
- Track record of leading architecture definition, design reviews, and silicon bring-up; able to own analog/mixed-signal blocks (amplifiers, references, ADC/DAC front-ends, bias, oscillators, regulators).
- Willingness to travel for work-related activities (~10%).
-
Nice-to-have: Functional Safety experience (IEC 61508 / ISO 26262), exposure to industrial/robotics/automotive systems, and strong system-level architecture experience.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree) is expected; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
