Job Title
Staff Engineer, Analog Design
Role Summary
Member of the Analog Design team in the Automotive Electrification business, responsible for designing next-generation battery management system (BMS) ICs and related analog/RF subsystems. Work spans system-to-transistor-level architecture, circuit design, modeling and simulation, and post-silicon validation.
This role focuses on production-quality analog and RF designs for automotive applications including low-power transceivers, high-precision battery monitoring, embedded controllers, and high-voltage/advanced-node analog blocks.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Experience range: 7β12 years.
Responsibilities
Core duties include translating system requirements into analog/RF specifications and delivering silicon-ready blocks.
- Architect and design analog/RF signal chains and subsystems for automotive BMS and related applications.
- Perform transistor-level analog circuit design and simulations.
- Create block- and system-level models and run simulations to verify performance.
- Ensure designs meet timing, area, power, and performance targets.
- Oversee layout considerations and collaborate with layout engineers for high-precision analog or high-speed sub-40nm/HV designs.
- Support post-silicon validation, lab evaluation, silicon bring-up, and debug.
- Develop measurement and data-analysis code and scripts (C#, Python, MATLAB) for lab testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Travel as required (up to ~10%).
Requirements
Required technical skills and experience; education requirements are listed separately below.
- Strong hands-on transistor-level analog design experience with a track record of delivering designs to production.
- Solid understanding of device physics and device-level operation.
- Experience in either low-power analog design in advanced sub-40nm processes or high-voltage analog design in BCD/HV processes.
- Practical layout awareness for high-precision analog or high-speed sub-40nm designs and ability to oversee layout implementation.
- Experience with analog/mixed-signal co-simulations and analog verification methodologies.
- Hands-on lab evaluation and silicon debug experience; ability to program measurement and analysis tools (C#, Python, MATLAB).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- RF system knowledge (Noise Figure, Phase Noise, IIP3, ACI, BER/PER, spurious analysis) and RF block experience (LNA, mixer, VCO, charge pump, dividers, PA).
- Experience with analog blocks such as op-amps, ADCs/DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, temperature sensors, and oscillators.
- Experience architecting signal chains for high-precision analog applications.
Education Requirements
Minimum listed qualification: BS/BTech or MS/MTech degree with relevant experience in Analog Design. Job level is commensurate with experience.
