Staff Embedded Software Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer on the Architecture and Technology Group (ATG) Methodology team in Bengaluru. Develop and maintain embedded software, boot flows, methodologies and tools for Architecture Compliance Kits (ACK) used by internal and external CPU design teams.
Provide technical direction, influence product offerings for future architectures, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating across multiple internal teams and external partners.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 10+ years of engineering experience in embedded software, firmware, drivers, or low-level operating system/processor software.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership for embedded software and related methodologies; ensure commitments are met and continuous improvements are driven.
- Interpret architecture specifications and design industry-standard embedded software and methodologies.
- Define technical direction and drive development of scalable architecture compliance kits.
- Guide, mentor and review work from junior engineers.
- Communicate progress and risks to stakeholders and ensure successful delivery of engineering commitments.
- Improve development efficiency by adopting appropriate flows, tools and methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal ATG teams and external partners to shape product offerings for future architectures.

Must-have:
- 10+ years of professional experience focused on embedded software, boot flows, firmware, driver development, or low-level operating system drivers for processor architectures.
- Proven experience defining direction, leading teams and delivering embedded/system software products.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take on additional responsibilities and drive results.
Nice-to-have:
- Basic understanding of computer architecture and familiarity with ARM (or x86) architecture or micro-architecture.
- Familiarity with verification or software environments and toolchains (specifically GNU toolchains).
- Experience with C or C++ and scripting languages such as Perl or Python; assembly-level programming experience.
- Experience writing test code in assembly, C, HVL or higher-level languages.
- Familiarity with QA methodologies: test plan and testcase development, unit testing and measurable execution.
Education Requirements
Preferred: University degree (e.g., Bachelor's) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electronics Engineering. Other degrees or equivalent practical experience will be considered.
