Job Title
Staff Electrical Engineer
Role Summary
Join Renesas' Radiation-Hardened (Rad-Hard) IC design team to develop analog and mixed-signal power management ICs for space markets. The role focuses on transistor-level design and product delivery for high-voltage DC-DC converters, LDOs, and multifunction power management circuits.
Positions are available in Research Triangle Park, NC or Palm Bay, FL; work is on-site at the listed locations.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Staff). No specific years-of-experience requirement stated.
Responsibilities
The engineer will lead design and program activities across product development from concept through production release.
- Collaborate on product definition with marketing, applications, and customers.
- Apply power process technology knowledge to design next-generation power management products.
- Execute transistor-level design of mixed-signal circuits for new and derivative products.
- Lead and manage programs to meet project schedules and objectives.
- Validate, debug, and prepare products for transfer to production engineering.
- Work cross-functionally with process, test, product, application, and marketing teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution. Preferred items are listed separately.
- Deep understanding of integrated analog circuit design and familiarity with bipolar, BiCMOS, and BCD process technologies.
- Experience with large-power transistor (bipolar and DMOS) design, layout, and robustness.
- Thorough knowledge of switch-mode power-conversion topologies (boost, buck, multi-phase current sharing) and control methods.
- Hands-on experience with Cadence tools for analog design and mixed-signal simulation.
- Experience with behavioral top-level modeling, mixed-signal verification, analog/digital interfaces, and digital buses.
- Proven ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
-
Nice-to-have: direct experience with radiation-hardened power management products; familiarity with gate driver techniques and control systems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required. Master’s (MSEE) or PhD preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
