Staff DRAM Design Engineer
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Staff DRAM Design Engineer
Role Summary
The Staff DRAM Design Engineer is a hands-on circuit designer responsible for DRAM memory architectures and analog/digital circuit innovations from concept through silicon validation. The role collaborates with design, verification, and cross-functional teams (Product Engineering, Test, Probe, Process Integration, Assembly, Marketing) to optimize manufacturability, cost, quality, and time-to-market.
Experience Level
Senior - requires technical experience. Minimum: 5+ years of circuit design experience or 7+ years of product engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include leading DRAM circuit design and driving validation and manufacturability efforts.
- Lead design and optimization of DRAM circuits: memory array, control logic, datapath, and test logic.
- Perform and analyze circuit simulations using SPICE, Verilog, and similar tools.
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs affecting power, performance, and die size.
- Integrate layout parasitics into simulations and enforce design-for-manufacturability (DFM).
- Define validation strategies, develop test chips, and support silicon bring-up.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet manufacturing and product requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 5+ years circuit design experience (or 7+ years product engineering experience).
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals and debugging techniques.
- Experience with circuit simulation tools and methodologies (SPICE, Verilog).
- Knowledge of CMOS behavior, timing, and performance optimization.
- Excellent technical communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
- Nice-to-have: experience with memory architectures (DRAM array and sense amplifiers), DFT/DFM concepts and semiconductor test flows, experience with layout parasitics and advanced process nodes, interest or experience applying AI tools to engineering workflows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is stated; equivalent practical experience is accepted (as reflected by the 5+ years circuit design or 7+ years product engineering alternative). No specific certifications listed.
